Pasteurization Technology Group — Wastewater Disinfection Pioneer — Nominated for BlueTech Forum Awards

In Press Releases on

As a nominee, PTG will participate in next month’s BlueTech Forum, organized by O2 Environmental, the highly respected expert water consultancy firm. The Forum’s purpose is to further the understanding and potential adoption of innovative water and wastewater technologies.

Pasteurization Technology Group (PTG), innovator of the world’s highest efficacy wastewater disinfection process that applies the principals of renewable energy to lower water’s carbon footprint, landed a coveted spot on the short-list for the 2016 BlueTech Forum Awards.

The 2016 BlueTech Forum taking place on 1st June in San Francisco, will provide a comprehensive road-map of the key themes and technologies that will shape the water industry in the coming decade.

The eleven companies nominated by the O2 Environmental Technology Assessment Group (TAG), represent key areas of next wave innovation and macro water industry trends.

During BlueTech Forum, the companies will present detailed innovation case studies which will introduce delegates to their technology concept, its value proposition and return on investment (ROI), the problem solved, the experience during implementation and what this means for future roll-out.

Two of these companies will receive the BlueTech Disrupt-o-meter Award and the BlueTech Truffle Award. The winners will each receive a place in the Innovation Pavilion at WEFTEC–the Water Environment Federation’s Annual Technical Exhibition and Conference–which O2 Environmental will host with their partners, Water Environment Federation and Imagine H20, in New Orleans in September.

“This recognition from O2 Environmental, a much-respected organization in the water and wastewater industry, adds to the meaningful validation of our breakthrough technology by leading experts in the business,” said Greg Ryan, co-founder and CEO of Pasteurization Technology Group. “This award mirrors the enthusiastic response we are seeing from the municipal, agricultural, beer, food and beverage industries due to the substantial cost savings and environmental benefits our technology provides.”

Forward-thinking cities and districts in California, where water and wastewater quality standards are exceptionally stringent, are adopting PTG’s innovative technology. Among them are Ventura Water and the Graton Community Services District. “Ventura Water is continually seeking improvement of our treatment and operational processes,” said Ventura Water General Manager Shana Epstein. “We are pleased to have partnered in this important project with PTG to demonstrate effective disinfection without chemicals as well as a potential for significant operational savings, if fully implemented, down the road.”

About PTG’s eco-friendly system for wastewater disinfection and renewable energy
PTG’s patented technology has been proven to be the most effective method for wastewater disinfection, and it is the first and only technology to combine wastewater disinfection with the principals of renewable energy. PTG’s integrated systems can use available waste by-products (such as biogas), or natural gas, to power a turbine or engine that generates electricity. The turbine’s hot exhaust air (which is typically wasted) is passed through a waste-heat recovery unit that increases the temperature required for disinfection of the effluent wastewater. PTG’s intelligent software efficiently optimizes energy and water flow throughout the integrated system. PTG’s systems are significantly more cost-effective and energy-efficient than other disinfection methods. Unlike other wastewater disinfection approaches, PTG’s technology is sustainable since it does not require toxic chemicals such as chlorine, or costly electrical power and expensive UV lamps. As a result, PTG’s systems fit a broad range of applications in both the municipal and industrial market sectors such as agriculture, food processing, and beverage processing.

About Pasteurization Technology Group
California-based Pasteurization Technology Group (PTG) is a rapidly growing, venture capital-backed company that is revolutionizing the disinfection of wastewater. PTG’s systems feature its patented “two-for-one” technology that combines eco-friendly wastewater disinfection with the generation of renewable energy. PTG’s process is one of only a handful of technologies to pass the stringent standards of Title 22 in the state of California for the disinfection of water for reuse. PTG’s technology has also been officially recognized in the EPA’s influential Guidelines for Water Reuse. By channeling the typically wasted exhaust heat from a turbine or engine to disinfect wastewater, PTG’s process is able to deliver the most energy-efficient and lowest-cost solution on the market. PTG’s technology enables tremendous cost savings in water- and energy-intensive industries such as agriculture, beverage and food processing. PTG has won numerous awards including the Water Environment Federation (WEF) Innovative Technology Award, the Katerva Award, the Artemis Top 50 Water Tech award, and the Popular Science “Best of What’s New” award.
